Enduring Power of Attorney Deadline Looms

There are now only five days left to make an enduring power of attorney before the law changes on 1 October and the more expensive and complex lasting power of attorney takes effect.

Solicitors are working flat out as friends and relatives of the elderly rush to put in place an enduring power of attorney which is a fairly simple process. The aim of the new legislation is to tackle abuses by relatives of the sick and elderly but not everyone is happy with the changes. If an enduring power of attorney is established before the 1 October deadline, it avoids the problems with the costly and complex LPA.

You can make an Enduring Power of Attorney for around £30, but the cost of setting up and registering the new Lasting Power of Aattorney can easily reach £1,000. The simpler and cheaper EPA will still be legal after 1 October, if drawn up before, but no new EPAs will be possible after that date.

EPA deadline Fast Approaching

After the 1st of October 2007 you will no longer be able to make an Enduring Power of Attorney but will have to use the new Lasting Power of Attorney.

Most advisers recommend that you make an Enduring Power of Attorney BEFORE the cut off date to avoid the new complicated rules and procedures.

Why not make a will online?

Q. Why do some people say that making a will online is not a good idea?

A. Because they have a vested interest in doing so.

The comments almost invariably come from solicitors who for many years have had a virtual monopoly on the wills and probate market - usually as high prices.

Unless your will is particularly complicated, making a will online will save you both time and money.

You can make a FULL CHECKED will for £29.95 at www.tenminutewill.co.uk

Make a Will NOW!

Make a Will NOW

Please consider these facts.

Every day over 1500 people die in the UK (source http://www.statistics.gov.uk) and over 70% of them die without making a will.

Much of this is due the the fact that so many people belive that if they die without a will (intestate) that everything will go to their husband or wife. This is NOT true!

It take ten minutes and costs less than £30 to make a fully solicitor checked will online. Make a will online here

If you want any, or hopefully all, of the following to happen then please make a will NOW:-

1. For your money and possessions to go to those people you WANT them to go to.

2. To reduce the possibility of financial hardship for your loved ones (not making a will could force the sale of the family home etc.)

3. To minimise the effect of Inheritance Tax on your estate.

4. To be able to make specific gifts of treasured or sentimental possessions, or financial gifts to charities.

5. To ensure you have a say in who looks after your children.

6. To choose you own executors who will administer your wishes.

Is it worth even delaying until to tomorrow when you can write and print a fully legal will ONLINE in minutes

Why Make a Will Online?

Firstly it is simply not necessary to incur the costs involved with using a solicitor to Make a Will!

Then again making a will entirely yourself is NOT to be recommended either! If you are tempted to use DIY Will forms, PLEASE think again!. The whole point of Making a Will is to ensure your estate goes to the people you want it to go to. One small mistake could jeopardise that wish. If you make a DIY Will or use one of the many available DIY Will "forms" you may save a few quid at outset but the cost to your beneficiaries or estate could be huge.

So why Make your Will Online - well, two reasons.

  1. Fast - but avoid those who do NOT let you print the Will immediately.
  2. Cheap - but you get what you pay for. If you pay less than £25 for a single will the chances are that it is "lacking" in some area. Perhaps it isn't full checked or they may charge you for future changes. ask yourself WHY its so cheap!?

There is only one Online Will Website I would actually recommend - Tenminutewill.co.uk

Why?

  • Costs £29.99 for a Single Will
  • Can be printed off in minutes
  • Is fully legally checked
  • There is NO charge for future changes to the Will

Online Wills - Make the Right Choice

Every week seems to spawn yet another website where you can Make your Will Online.

We intend to compare all the major Online Will providers enabling you to make an informed decision which one to use.

Do NOT be tempted to simply choose the cheapest - cheapest is rarely best!

PLEASE - don't be tempted to use DIY Wills or FREE/CHEAP Wills. They may save you a small amount now but one mistake could costs your beneficiaries a fortune and at worse invalidate your will.

In my opinion the Online Will Service from TenMinuteWill.co.uk is the best provider of Online Wills in the UK.

Single Wills are just £29.99 - not the cheapest but unlike many other sites they are all solicitor checked AND can be printed off immediately.
